📘 About Hernia

hernia occurs when an organ or tissue pushes through a weak spot in the muscles or surrounding tissue wall.

🧍‍♂️ Common Types of Hernia:

    1. Inguinal Hernia – in the groin (most common, especially in men)

    1. Umbilical Hernia – near the belly button

    1. Incision Hernia – through a scar from previous surgery

    1. Hialeah Hernia – part of the stomach pushes into the chest (through the diaphragm)

⚠️ Causes of Hernia:

    • Heavy lifting

    • Chronic coughing

    • Obesity

    • Straining during bowel movements

    • Previous surgeries

🔍 Symptoms:

    • A visible lump or bulge (often painful)

    • Pain or pressure when lifting, coughing, or standing

    • Heartburn or chest pain (in Hialeah hernia)

    • Discomfort improves when lying down

🛠️ Treatment:

    • Small hernias may just be monitored

    • Surgery is the permanent solution (open or laparoscopic)

        • Usually done under local or general anaesthesia

        • Recovery is often quick and successful

🏥 Note: If the hernia becomes painful, red, or hard, it may be strangulated — a medical emergency that needs urgent surgery.
